Let’s talk about the critically buzzing pop-duo Scotty Rebel and Tokyo Diiva of Rich White Ladies. New York City-bred, these girls know how to have a good time and have recently taken Gay Pride weekends throughout the US by storm with their fiery, fun, and fierce “rock star goddesses” performances. It’s a glammed-up pastiche of pop, dance, electronic, rock, fashion statements, middle fingers, and a whole lot of glitter. It’s also quickly turned tastemakers into believers in these debutantes of musical mischief.

Over the past three years a small community of introspective frontier feminists have been gathering on intensive retreats to discuss and dissect the tenets of what it means to be a modern feminist. Presented by The Hole, “Future Feminism” is an exhibition collectively realized by Antony, Kembra Pfahler, Johanna Constantine, Bianca Casady and Sierra Casady. It realizes their reflective journeys into 13 tenets, articulating their meditations on modern feminist thinking. (Running September 11—27, 2014)

Featuring The Experience and The Band of Gypsys, it is the ONLY show using authentic replica costumes and the same musical gear Jimi used in the 1960's and that can faithfully re-produce 3 of Hendrix's most historic concerts: 1967's MONTEREY POP, the 1970 FILLMORE'S BAND OF GYPSYS & 1969's famous WOODSTOCK. Each summer, FIGMENT NYC transforms Governors Island into a large-scale collaborative artwork. Opening weekend is on Saturday June 7th and Sunday June 8th is the event kick-off celebration. At FIGMENT visitors will find works in every imaginable medium including sculpture, installation, performance, music, workshops, games, social experiments, and heart-stopping technological innovations that change the way we see the world… and visitors are invited to bring something, too!
What began as a local, grass roots effort trying to energize the community in the wake of hurricane Sandy has blossomed into a full-scale eventintertwining 17 local stores, restaurants and venues. On March 1st and 2nd, artworks, curated by Sara Reisman of Percent For Art, will be installed throughout the entire neighborhood in local businesses and unused spaces. Music performances will take place in the evening.
