An important new announcement for SoHo residents —
The NYPD has inaugurated a new program, Neighborhood Policing, which is basically a return to the "cop on the beat" that was once prevalent in the city.

The program is intended to improve communication and collaboration between local police officers and community residents. The same officers work in the same neighborhoods on the same shifts, increasing their familiarity with local residents and local problems. They get to know the neighborhood, its people and its problems extremely well.

The meeting this Wednesday will focus on the area west of Broadway, the part of SoHo covered by the First Precinct. (The area east of Broadway is covered by the Fifth Precinct.  We shall let you know when the Fifth Precinct has their Build the Block meeting)

The two officers in charge of the SoHo sector, Michael Erdman and Don Dermody, will run the meeting.  They are the liaison between the precinct and the community, will share some of the work they have done so far, and, more importantly, learn how we can make the sector a better and safer place.

If you have any issues you would like to address, you should try to attend the meeting.
