Musical Magic at Metropolitan Room

Nestled on West 22nd Street is a welcoming, cozy nightclub featuring the best in musical entertainment. I've attended numerous performances there, enjoying the varied range of performers, from super famous to those on their way up.

Last week featured a singing duo – married couple, Paul & Rochelle presenting their delightful show. “At The Movies”. They tiptoed through the tulips of time interlacing their songs with stories about the composers and lyricists, spiced by a bit of tasty gossip! The show made its way through well-known songs delivered as endearingly as their 10 year relationship. The two man back-up musicians, Tom Hubbard on bass and Daniel Glass on percussion provided steady, subtle accompaniment that kept the performance upbeat and exciting.

Directed by the legendary Marilyn Maye, the full audience showed their enthusiastic appreciation with rousing applause. Miss Maye, one of the most revered singers in Show Biz will be appearing at 54 Below from January 24th. Her performance will make for a musical memory that'll stay with you for years to come....guaranteed.

I recommend you check out the Metropolitan Room website.-- metropolitanroom.com. I know you'll be tempted to make reservations for several upcoming shows. HINT: When you go, order Blond Lilette on the rocks with a slice of orange. The ever-charming bartender, Tom Gablin, makes sure he has it in stock for me. I hope you like it as much as I do. Speaking of drinks, the food is reasonably priced and delicious. What could be better!
